Tattoo design inspired by Viking design. I’ve translated four lines from one of my favourite poems into runes. The poem is ‘Haugtussa’ by the Norwegian author Arne Garborg (1851-1924). The runic alphabet was used by the Vikings, and continued to be used and evolve until the end of the 1800’s.
My design incorporates various design elements that are meaningful to me, including a stylised button from my grandmother’s national costume, the outline of a necklace in the shape of Viking boats, and a Celtic brooch. It also includes two custom designs: an infinity symbol and an Aquarius symbol, both inspired by Viking design techniques.
My simple design was given great colour and life by Centro Piercing e Tattoo Leotta in Pisa, Italy.
